Stopped in because my check engine light came on. Two cars in the bay. 2 mechanics outside but 4 people on the inside and said it would be 2 hours. They have me a ride home and called me to tell me it would be $428 to look into my engine. I just asked for a 15 minute diagnostic test that OReillys and everyone else does for free. They charged me $65 for a 15 minute test. Invoice says for half an hour. $130 an hour for labor charges? Charges $428 before work? Never heard of such. Not only that, when I turned on my car this morning and all day long, no engine light came on at all. I think this place should be called “Dis-Honest” auto repair and I will do my dangest to share with others to stay away. What a joke!
Mr. Baxter, Let me clear up some of your confusion. When a check engine light is on we will start with an initial diag. An initial diag verifies which direction we need to proceed, which is what you requested (please see line 4 of your review). We also explained to you the $65.00 initial diag fee before working on your car. The $428.00 charge was based on the 3 1/2 hours we would have to spend taking off the intake to locate the malfunctioning parts. This is based on code PO333 Knock Sensor 2 - there is a reason for this code and the repair your vehicle we have to figure out what is wrong. So I guess I am confused about your 1* review and hostility we did what you asked and got your approval before our first check and called you to get approval before proceeding which you declined.
